Hebron & Hershey - Days 1, 2, & 3

We departed on Friday, July 5, to head to Camp Hebron, where we had planned to stay for two nights before heading to our service site. Sometimes expectations are met, and sometimes they aren't. After arriving at the camp and locating our shelters, we all shared the same expression after realizing where we planned to stay for two nights. We decided we could make it work, and we survived the night.

However, after realizing what lay ahead of us the next night—after a day of Hersheypark and hot weather—we knew the second night would be hard. But God answered our unspoken prayer, and thanks to some generous donors, we were able to secure three hotel rooms for Saturday night. It would be good to get a good (cool and bug-free) night's sleep before we headed into the work week.

With that in mind, we headed out for breakfast on Saturday morning at a great diner near Hersheypark and then headed in for some fun. It was hot! But there was plenty of shade, and we made sure to stay hydrated. The good part was that the heat may have kept some people away, because the lines were short and we got on every ride we wanted to, some of them more than once!

Once the day was done, we headed out to the hotel, grabbed some dinner, and got a good night’s sleep.

As I type, we are just about to have devotions together, then head out to tour a cave, and grab some supplies before checking in to our site.
