Pancake Day is a long-standing church tradition that helps us prepare for Lent. Wait… I am all for pancakes, but what do they have to do with Lent?
Historically, Pancake Day is called Shrove Tuesday. It was the day before Ash Wednesday, and pancakes were the ideal way to use up eggs and fats before beginning the Lenten fast.
In addition, the palm branches from the previous Palm Sunday were burned in order to prepare the ashes used on Ash Wednesday.
We will have pancakes, fruit, and pastries, as well as games and a meaningful devotional experience to help us prepare for Lent.
Sign up below, so we can cook up enough pancakes! Free-will donations will be accepted.
