Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week. On this day, Jesus rode triumphantly into Jerusalem on a donkey, which, in that custom, was the sign that the king had arrived. In fact, as Jesus rides, the people make a “red carpet” out of their garments, wave palm branches, and shout “Hosanna to the King!” Hosanna isn’t just an expression of joy; it also means “Lord, save us.”
This is precisely what Jesus came to do. Near the end of the week, the man who was hailed as king will ascend a splintered throne, and wear a thorny crown. He will be the subject of mockery for those who don’t know him. But for those who do know Him, His death is the source of life.
Join us for Palm Sunday worship! We will hand out palm branches, and have a parade at the beginning of our service for our children as we sing the praises of our King Jesus!
