EASTER SUNDAY

Happy Easter! Today we rejoice that our King, who died for us, has now risen from the grave, just as he promised. And we know that if we live and believe in Him, even though we die, we too will live!

Our Easter service will feature familiar hymns, songs, and scripture readings. In addition, we will enjoy music from our Festival Choir, and a special Easter message for the children.

Come early if you’d like to attend our Easter Breakfast at 9am.

CHRIST IS RISEN! HE IS RISEN INDEED! ALLELUIA!

Good Friday Service

Only a few days earlier, on Sunday, Jesus was hailed as the King of Israel. Now he is mocked as he is crucifed on a cross, with a sign hanging above His head that reads “The King of the Jews.”

This is the ultimate irony. This sign was intended as a warning: this is what happens to anyone claiming to be king. And at the same time, it is the truth. This is what our King Jesus does on our behalf.

It is Good Friday for two reasons. The first is that Christ has died for the sins of all people; He is the King of all people, not just the Jews. But it is also good because we know what happens on Sunday. Jesus told his disciples that he “must die,” but that in “three days I will rise again.”

Good Friday is as important as Easter. The two events are really one, in which our God pays the price for our sin by his death and assures us of everlasting life in His Resurrection.

Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday

The word “maundy” comes from the Latin word that means mandate or command. Jesus, our King, is certainly in a position to command us to do what he wants. However, before he does, he leads by example. Jesus’ command this night to his disciples is to “love one another, as I have loved you.” And as a demonstration of what His love for us compels him to do, Jesus assumes the role of a servant, gets on his hands and knees, and washes His disciples’ feet.

Jesus says, “If I, your savior and king, have washed your feet, so too should you wash each other’s feet.” But washing feet is the least of what Jesus will do to show us His love. The very next day he would lay down his life for them and us as he hung on the cross to forgive our sins.

Maundy Thursday is also the occasion on which Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion). We will gather tonight to worship God, but mostly to receive His Divine Service, which he does out of great love for you.

Palm Sunday Service

Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week. On this day, Jesus rode triumphantly into Jerusalem on a donkey, which, in that custom, was the sign that the king had arrived. In fact, as Jesus rides, the people make a “red carpet” out of their garments, wave palm branches, and shout “Hosanna to the King!” Hosanna isn’t just an expression of joy; it also means “Lord, save us.”

This is precisely what Jesus came to do. Near the end of the week, the man who was hailed as king will ascend a splintered throne, and wear a thorny crown. He will be the subject of mockery for those who don’t know him. But for those who do know Him, His death is the source of life.

Join us for Palm Sunday worship! We will hand out palm branches, and have a parade at the beginning of our service for our children as we sing the praises of our King Jesus!
