Our Preschool

“Teach a child in the way they should go, and when they are grown,
they will not depart from it.”

Holy Cross Christian Preschool is a congregationally sponsored school for children ages three, four, and five. We offer both the traditional morning-only classes along with a full-day program that runs year-round. Holy Cross Preschool, conveniently located on Main Street in Trumbull, Connecticut, is surrounded by 8.5 acres of well-maintained grounds, which include a large outdoor play area. During the school day, children will receive a well-rounded, age-appropriate education along with plenty of time to play and learn vital social skills in a safe and caring environment. After the regular school year has concluded in June, we offer a summer program that runs for the majority of the summer.

  • We believe that the training and experience of a child in the early years are foundational for all of life. Therefore, we are concerned about the whole person—for spiritual as well as physical, intellectual, social, and emotional needs. The philosophy of Holy Cross Christian preschool is based on the Bible verses found in Ephesians 3:14–19. We desire that Christ may dwell in your child’s heart through faith and that your child may be rooted and grounded in love. “That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” – Ephesians 3:17

  • To be enrolled, children must be three years of age by December 31 and must be toilet trained. The school is open to all children regardless of race, religion, or national or ethnic origin without discrimination. Our enrollment is limited. Additional names will be placed on a waiting list. Therefore, early application is encouraged. Write or call the preschool for an application form. Applications will be considered in the order they are received, and a personal interview can be scheduled. A nonrefundable $200 fee is due with your application.

  • Dear Holy Cross,

I am writing this letter to you as my youngest son is about to enter Kindergarten this fall.  My two boys attended the 4-year-old program with Michele (and the other teachers!) and I am really impressed and so very happy with the time they have spent at Holy Cross.

I would like to share my positive experiences with you.  My boys are both very different, and they both loved the preschool (4 year old program). I know that they learned so much—they would come home talking about the science experiments that they did and about new animals they discovered. They both learned their letters and sounds without any practice at home.  (They both didn't want to work with mom or dad on this.) They learned their numbers and how to count. They had fun! They learned how to be good friends. They felt safe and loved. I cannot tell you how much it means to me to know that not only did my children learn, but that they were loved. Michele and the other teachers were patient and caring.  When I came to her with an issue going on, she and the other teachers dealt with it immediately.  I felt that the conferences were extremely helpful and insightful for me as a parent. She was very thorough.  Being a teacher myself (albeit of high school students) I know how much time Michele put into the curriculum and to develop the whole child.  I LOVE that there were so many different discovery centers (what my children would call "play") and that was balanced with learning time.  If I could, I would have my young 5 year old stay another year in the Pre-school.  However, our family schedule is just too tough. I was worried about him taking the Kindergarten Readiness Test at Christian Heritage because we had not worked with my son at all and it was a last-minute decision when we realized our family would not be able to help with pick-up and drop-off.  I was a bit surprised that he scored in the 90th percentile even though he was a young five year old.  This is a direct result of what Michele did in this 4 year old class (and he only went 3 days).  She prepared my son for Kindergarten.  I am so impressed with her as a teacher. Because my family will not be attending HCCP anymore I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate Michele and HCCP staff and to let you know that coming from another teacher- I think she is wonderful.  You really have someone who understands the craft of teaching and truly cares about and loves these children.  I will continue to highly recommend Holy Cross to any families I come into contact with that have younger children.

    Regards,
