OUR ANNUAL HOLY CROSS CHURCH PICNIC IS TODAY AFTER THE LATE SERVICE.  Join us for FUN, FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP!  If you have not signed up, you may still come and pay “at the door.”  The cost is $8 per person; maximum of $30 per family.  Please bring a side salad or dessert to share.

DURING PASTOR’S DEPLOYMENT anyone in need of spiritual care may contact the church office, 203-268-7555, (Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.); Head Shepherd, Donna Senft or Board President, Kerry Geffert.  We are blessed to have several pastoral resources available.

VOLUNTEER SURVEY:  If you didn’t fill out the Volunteer Survey the past two weeks, find copies of this form on top of the red/white wood box behind the last pew.  Completed forms may be put into the wood box.

THE FALL GOLF OUTING for Holy Cross players will be on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Tashua Knolls.  We have tee times for four foursomes, starting at 12:30 p.m.; your cost is the green fee and $5 per person for appetizers afterward.  Please contact Dave Bogen or Cliff Schrock if interested.

ATTENTION FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN AGES 3 THROUGH GRADE 12: Sunday School has begun—Please join us for another exciting adventure this year!  We are using Bible study, extension activities and projects to learn and grow in Christ.  Please register your child(ren); forms are on the narthex table and on our website  (Questions??  Speak to Kimberly or James Atkinson.)

ONGOING COLLECTION:  Our Sunday School will be collecting NEW hats and gloves beginning this fall to be used to outfit children with Covenant to Care for Children—the children in our “adopted” DCF social worker’s caseload.  Please put these donations in the designated collection box in the narthex.

HAVE YOU PICKED UP YOUR MAIL?  The 4th-quarter Worship Volunteer schedules and the new Holy Cross membership phone/address directory have been distributed into the family mailboxes.

SUNDAY SCHOOL SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS ARE NEEDED!  Your Sunday School teachers give an “all-year” commitment, but sometimes they need to do other things too!  Please consider allowing us to add your name to our substitute list.  Lesson plans will be left for you—all you need is a love of children and God!  Please contact Kimberly or James Atkinson for more information.

TRUMBULL MALL DISPLAY:  HCLC member Carl Carlson currently has a display at our local mall of 11 of the many ship models he has made over the years.  His interest in history led him to learn more about historic ships.  Many of the models he made were of ships built in Connecticut or Massachusetts.  Carl is currently working on the Charles W. Morgan, the whaling ship restored in Mystic.  Hopefully you have had—or will have—the opportunity to see Carl’s model ship display at the mall.

WANTED: Youth Group Advisor or Co-Advisors for our Grade 7–12 Youth Group.  Commitment requires one activity or meeting per month.  The schedule is already established.  Please contact Kimberly or James Atkinson for more information.
