Hello and Welcome - We are Glad You Found Us!
We are currently in our summer worship schedule, with one service on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. (through the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, September 1)
The two-service Sunday Worship Service schedule resumes on Sept. 8—services at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
For the Week Starting 07/14
SUNDAY SCHOOL DIRECTORS AND TEACHERS NEEDED! Many of our Sunday School teachers are stepping down this year after several decades of teaching and this includes our co-directors. Replacements are needed if we are to continue to educate our kids in the Christian way. Please contact Kimberly Atkinson if you are interested in any positions or co-chairing or teaching.
THE BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES COLLECTION for Covenant to Care for Children is ongoing through the deadline date of August 11. Please stop by the display board in the narthex to select 3 X 5 shopping cards for a backpack and/or school supplies that are needed for the 30 school-age children in the caseload of our “adopted” DCF social worker. Giving a new backpack and school supplies to these children will give them a positive start to the 2019-2020 school year. If you are unable to shop but would like to donate financially, you may make a check out to Holy Cross Lutheran with “Cov to Care” in the memo section and put it in the Covenant to Care mailbox. Thank you in advance for supporting these less-fortunate children. Donations may be left in the box under the display board.
WHAT ARE YOU READING? Let me know if you are interested in our book discussion about The Second Mountain, by David Brooks, and any other book you are reading. We are reading this over the summer, and looking to gather on a date to be determined in August. This book is in high demand at the local libraries (this means waiting list and 7- to-14-day return). Please contact Michele Van Wart, 203-305-2910.
IF YOU WILL MISS WORSHIP SERVICES THIS SUMMER, consider using our electronic-giving option while you are away. Your consistent support is vital to our church, especially during summer months. To set up a contribution, go to holycrosstrumbull.org and click on the electronic-giving link at the bottom of the home page. If you have any questions Contact Chad Helminger, our financial secretary (firstname.lastname@example.org). Thank you for your continued support!
DO YOU, OR DOES SOMEONE YOU KNOW, NEED A PRESCHOOL? Registration for the 2019-2020 school year at our very own Holy Cross Christian Preschool is ongoing! To schedule a visit, or to find out more details about the class sizes, availability and curriculum, contact our Preschool Director, Michele Glennon: 203-268-6471, email@example.com.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL IS UNDERGOING REVISIONS and will not be available this year. If you would like to be part of the reworking committee throughout the coming school year, please contact Kimberly Atkinson. We look forward to a new and improved program in the summer of 2020!
A BROCHURE FOR THE LCMS NATIONAL OFFERING, “Joy to the World,” is on the narthex table. Monetary gifts given to the Synod for this offering go directly to the mission of the LCMS to make known and share the Good News of Jesus Christ, joy incarnate, to the world. The offerings received will go toward witnessing to immigrants, empowering missionaries, carrying the Gospel into spiritually-abandoned urban areas, planting new churches both here and abroad, and more. The brochure contains an addressed/stamped envelope for sending a monetary gift directly to the LCMS National Offering. Please do not put this gift into the offering plate here at Holy Cross.
