Hello and Welcome - We are Glad You Found Us!

Our Sunday Worship Service times are: 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

For the Week Starting 11/18

PLAN TO WORSHIP WITH YOUR HOLY CROSS FAMILY at the Thanksgiving Eve Eucharist at 7:30 p.m., this Wednesday, Nov. 21.  At the beginning of the service there will be a collection of non-perishable food items that will be given to the Trumbull Food Pantry.  This food collection is sponsored by the Worship Commission, and we thank you in advance for your generous donations.

SERVERS AND COOKS ARE NEEDED on Tuesday, December 4, for the St. John’s Community Supper in Bridgeport.  Two cooks are needed from 1 to 4 p.m.  Servers are needed from 4:45 to 6.  If you plan to volunteer, please sign up on the table in the narthex.  The Dec. 4 supper will be sponsored by Grace Lutheran-Stratford.

THE COVENANT TO CARE FOR CHILDREN “GIVING TREE” is in the narthex.  Stop by to select an ornament tag with a boy or girl’s name/age, and agree to buy that child a Christmas gift.  The children on the “Giving Tree” are in the caseload of our DCF social worker, Mimose Laurenard, and for many of these children, this will be the only gift they will receive.  We also need a few more sets of winter hats & mittens/gloves to give to the children in Mimose’s caseload.  There are ornament tags on the “tree” for the children for whom we still need a hat/mitten set.  Please be sure to “sign out” the tag you choose.  All gifts are due, unwrapped, by Sunday, December 9.

CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS:  As is our usual practice, for our Christmas services we will decorate the altar with red and white poinsettias that you can order to honor or remember a loved one.  Order forms are in a labeled basket on the narthex table.  The potted flowers are $16 and the deadline for orders and payment is Sunday, December 2.  All poinsettia donors will be listed in the Christmas bulletins.

ADVENT WREATH CANDLE LIGHTING:  We offer a nice opportunity for you/your family to participate in a Sunday morning Worship service in Advent—see the blue sign-up sheet on the narthex table and pick a service to light the candle(s) on the Advent wreath while a special hymn is sung.  Note:  A Bible verse will not be read during the lighting…only lighting the candle(s).

NAMES OF THOSE REQUESTING PRAYERS are listed in our weekly bulletin.  If you submitted a prayer request, please keep Pastor updated on the individual’s condition.  We want to keep this list current, offering a prayer of thanksgiving when appropriate.  If you would like someone added or removed from the list, please let us know!

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY:  All men are invited to attend a video-based Bible Study entitled, “Fatherhood with Joel Biermann.”  Biermann is not only a dad, but a Concordia Seminary professor.  This study will relate how being a father is a demanding pursuit with a heavenly goal – raising kids who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  The final session of this four-study series is at 7 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, and will last about an hour.  We will meet in the conference room.

CHRISTIAN DISCUSSION GROUP:  Our final meeting date before the Christmas holiday is on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 10:15 a.m.  Please join us in the conference room.  Hope to see you there!
