VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2017 runs from 9 a.m. to noon, August 7–11!  Registration forms are on the narthex table.  We also request juice and peanut-free snack donations.  We would love to see you be a part of this valuable outreach program.  Need more information?  Contact Kimberly Atkinson.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL MISSION—CANNED GREEN BEANS DRIVE:  This year, we are collecting canned green beans for the Bridgeport Rescue Mission’s (BRM) Great ThanksGiving Project.  The green beans we collect will go into the fixings bags they will distribute this November in Bridgeport and South Norwalk. The project is the region’s most impactful holiday outreach.  Individuals and families receive everything needed to prepare a home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner: turkey and bag of fixings, as well as warm winter coats.  We are excited to support this community-outreach effort.  Holy Cross’ donations (with food donated from other local churches) will help the BRM make its program self-sustaining, allowing the Mission to reach more people.  Our commitment is to provide 250-500 cans of green beans and we need your help!  Please assist our VBS attendees to meet this goal by donating green beans.  All cans are due in the narthex box by Sunday, August 13.  See Kimberly Atkinson for more information.

PASTOR WISMAR’S ADDRESS:  Some parishioners have asked for Pastor’s mailing address.  There is no need to list the country; this APO address only requires one first-class stamp.

THE BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES COLLECTION for Covenant to Care for Children is ongoing through the deadline date of August 13.  Please stop by the display board in the narthex to select 3 X 5 card(s) for a backpack and school supplies that are needed.  Help us to fill 32 backpacks with the necessary supplies so that the children in our “adopted” DCF social worker’s caseload will have a solid start to the 2017-2018 school year.  If you would like to donate financially, you may make a check out to Holy Cross Lutheran with “Cov to Care” in the memo and give it to Mary Schrock or put it in the Covenant to Care mailbox.  Thank you in advance for helping to support less fortunate children within our community.

SAVE THE DATE—OCTOBER 29, REFORMATION DAY—For the celebration of Holy Cross’ 60th anniversary.  Details forthcoming.

PLEASE NOTE:  The Church Office will be closed from July 26 through August 4.
