Hello and Welcome - We are Glad You Found Us!

Our Sunday Worship Service times are 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Thanksgiving Eve Eucharist:  Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m.  Please join us as we give thanks for all of God's wonderful blessings.  During the opening hymn there will be a special collection of non-perishable food items for the food pantry at Sterling House in Stratford.

For the Week Starting 11/19

SPECIAL SUNDAY BIBLE CLASS THIS MONTH:  Join us every Sunday in November between services to find out what spiritual gifts are, which gifts you have, and how we can use them for the betterment of our faith.

PLAN TO WORSHIP WITH YOUR HOLY CROSS FAMILY at the Thanksgiving Eve Eucharist at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22.  At the beginning of the service there will be a collection of non-perishable items that will be given to the food pantry at Sterling House in Stratford.  The ushers will hand out a sheet that lists items most needed.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

THE COVENANT TO CARE FOR CHILDREN “GIVING TREE” is in the narthex.  Stop by to select an ornament tag with a boy or girl’s name/age, and agree to buy that child a Christmas gift.  The 29 children on the “Giving Tree” are in the caseload of our DCF social worker, Mimose Laurenard, and for many of these children, this will be the only gift they will receive.  We are also in the process of collecting donations of hat & mitten/glove sets for all the children in Mimose’s caseload; this has been on on-going project in conjunction with our Sunday School.  Please be sure to “sign out” the tag you choose.  All gifts are due, unwrapped, by Sunday, December 10.

CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS:  As is our usual practice, for our Christmas services we will decorate the altar with red and white poinsettias that you can order to honor or remember a loved one.  Order forms are in a labeled basket on the narthex table.  The potted flowers are $18 and the deadline for orders and payment is Sunday, December 3.  All poinsettia donors will be listed in the Christmas bulletins.

LEADING AND SERVING:  The Board of Directors is pleased to announce opportunities for you to lead and serve our congregation.  The following positions are open, terms beginning January 2018:  President, Vice President, Financial Secretary, Worship Director, Discipleship Director, Education Director, Social Ministry Director and Shepherd.  Please contact any Board member or Michele Van Wart for information and to put your name on January’s ballot.

ADVENT WREATH CANDLE LIGHTING AND READING: We offer a nice opportunity for you/your family to participate in a Sunday morning Worship service during Advent—see the blue sign-up sheet on the narthex table and pick a service to light the candle(s) on the Advent wreath and read a Scripture passage.

CAN YOU SERVE AS A FELLOWSHIP HOST ON A SUNDAY MORNING?  The new chart is on the narthex table.  Pick a week that works with your schedule.  We have an immediate need for a host for next Sunday as well as Sundays in December and January.

CHRISTIAN DISCUSSION GROUP takes a break this week and will meet again on Wednesday, November 29.  Come out and join us on that date at 10:15 a.m. in the Conference Room.  Hope to see you there!

ONGOING COLLECTION:  Our Sunday School is collecting NEW hats and gloves to be used to outfit children with Covenant to Care for Children—the children in our “adopted” DCF social worker’s caseload.  Please put these donations in the designated collection box in the narthex.
