Hello and Welcome - We are Glad You Found Us!
Our Worship Service times are: Sunday at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.; Monday at 7:00 p.m.
The pictures in this gallery include photos from Pastor Wismar's installation at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, the day volunteers helped his family move into the parsonage, and a few other events and volunteer activities.
MONTHLY COMMUNITY SUPPER: Holy Cross is responsible for preparing/serving the meal on the first Tuesday of the month. Our next day to cook and serve is this week, onOctober 6. See the sign-up sheet on the narthex table to indicate your availability to help with either cooking or serving.
TWO NEWSLETTER NOTES: 1. The October newsletter items are posted on the newsletter link of our Holy Cross website: www.holycrosstrumbull.org; if you prefer to read the paper version, pick up a newsletter as you leave worship this morning, from the red basket in the rear of the sanctuary. 2. The deadline for the November edition of our newsletter is next week, on October 15. Submit your news item by this date to the newsletter mailbox, located outside the church office, or send it via e-mail to email@example.com .
CHRISTMAS-AT-SEA: The objective of this Social Ministry project is to bring joy to seafarers who won’t be home with their families on Christmas. The “joy” these seafarers receive is in the form of a satchel that is filled with gifts, including a sweatshirt, socks, T-shirt, knit cap, can of nuts, chocolate bar and Christmas card. Look for the poster in the narthex that has shopping cards. Return items by Nov. 1. Check out the display case which highlights this project.
BREAKFAST & ARTISTS—SATURDAY, OCT. 31, FROM 9:30-11:30 A.M. Our Guest Speaker is Jen Marr from LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry. Comfort Dogs Addie and Leah will join us. Enjoy a full hot and cold breakfast buffet. Browse our artists and crafters. Book signing and meet the authors of Good Dogs, Great Listeners. All ages are welcome. Tickets on sale beginning Oct. 11.
CHRISTIAN DISCUSSION GROUP: Come out and join us on Wednesday, October 7, at 10 a.m. in the Conference Room. We’ll be watching Ken Ham (who is the founder of “Answers in Genesis” and is one of the most in-demand Christian speakers in North America) speak about “being prepared to give an answer for our faith to people who are familiar with the Bible and to those who are not.” This is the third of six topics in Ken Ham’s DVD Series called “The Foundations.”
WANTED: An additional couch for the youth room in the basement. If you have (or know of someone with) a couch from a pet-free and smoke-free house and would like to donate it, I will make arrangements to come and get it. Please contact the church office.
THE WORSHIP SUPPLIES AND ALTAR FLOWER CHARTS are on the hallway bulletin board. If you are looking for a gift for someone and have no idea what to get them, honor them at Holy Cross with Altar flowers for a week or with sponsoring one of five worship supplies for a month. If they do not attend Holy Cross, you could mail the bulletin listing to them. It’s a nice way to celebrate someone’s birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion. The monthly cost of Worship supplies varies, as listed on the chart. Altar flowers are $25 per week for two vases.
STAY IN TOUCH WITH YOUR CHURCH! – Read the newsletter via the Holy Cross website—www.holycrosstrumbull.org (navigate on the banner to Resources, click Newsletter; scroll down, click on current month). Paper copies of the October newsletter are available this morning in the red basket in the rear of the sanctuary. Sign up for the e-mail blast—Receive reminders of church services, events, cancellations, etc. These are “blind e-mails” to ensure privacy. To be added, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with “Subscribe blasts” in the subject line. Are you on Facebook? Holy Cross is! After you “Like” us, you’ll see postings of upcoming events, pictures from events, and other notifications.
CALLING ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS! Do you have candid pictures of Holy Cross gatherings or outreach? Photos from the annual Church Picnic or Crop Walk? Volunteers at the soup kitchen? We are gathering photos to put on the website to show our activities and for all to enjoy. E-mail Gary Messerschmitt (email@example.com) for instructions on how to transfer the photos.
