Announcements

For the Week Starting 12/4

OUR NEXT DAY TO COOK AND SERVE THE COMMUNITY SUPPER at St. John’s Episcopal-Bridgeport is this Tuesday, December 6.  See the sign-up sheet on the narthex table and indicate your availability to help with the specific tasks.

THE CHRISTMAS POINSETTIA DEADLINE IS TODAY!  For our Christmas services we will decorate the altar with red and white poinsettias that you can order to honor or remember a loved one.  Order forms are in a labeled basket on the narthex table. Completed forms and payment should be put into the Altar Flower mailbox.  All poinsettia donors will be listed in the Christmas bulletins.

OUR SECOND OF FOUR ADVENT SOUP SUPPERS / ADVENT SERVICES is this Wednesday evening, Dec. 7.  Please join us for soup at 6:15.  This Discipleship Commission looks for YOUR help with the soup supper – pots of soup and finger desserts are needed.  If you can bring one of these two items, please indicate this on the Soup Supper sign-up sheets.  Thank you in advance for your help.   The Holden Evening Prayer service is at 7:30.  Our Advent theme this year is, “From Heaven Above.”  This week we unwrap the gift of LOVE.  The steadfast love of God is revealed in the gift of his Son. As the redeemed people of God we share his love with others.  Let the Scripture verses, hymns, and order of service be a perfect time for you to meditate and reflect during this season of anticipating Jesus’ birth.

OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER: We’ll bring the supplies.  You bring your willingness to volunteer this Saturday, December 10, at 8:30 a.m., in our sanctuary—Altar Guild “Deep Cleaning” of the altar, church, candles, communion ware and offering plates. Make Holy Cross—God’s House—beautiful and clean for Christmas.

YOUTH CHRISTMAS PARTY AT THE PARSONAGE: Pastor Wismar and Miharu are hosting a Christmas Party right after the second service on Dec. 18 for the youth. The event includes having lunch, watching a movie and exchanging gifts (about $5).  If you can join us, please let Pastor or Miharu know.

ADVENT WREATH CANDLE LIGHTING:  We offer a nice opportunity for you/your family to participate in a Sunday morning Worship service in Advent—see the blue sign-up sheet on the narthex table and pick a service to light the candle(s) on the Advent wreath while a special hymn is sung.
