Announcements

For the Week Starting 12/09

OUR SECOND OF THREE ADVENT SOUP SUPPERS / ADVENT SERVICES is Wednesday evening, Dec. 12.  Please join us for soup at 6:15.  The Discipleship Commission looks for YOUR help with the soup supper – pots of soup and finger desserts are needed.  If you can bring one of these two items, please indicate this on the Soup Supper sign-up sheet.  The Holden Evening Prayer service is at 7:30.  Our Advent series this year is, “God With Us.”  This week our theme is Our Living Branch and the theme verse is Isaiah 11:1—  God is with us as our Living Branch, who died and rose to give us eternal life.

PLEASE NOTE:  THE FRIDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASS will not meet for the remainder of December.  We will be on a short break until Friday, January 11.  Please join us then, at 10:30 a.m., in the conference room.

CHURCH DECORATING AT NOON TODAY!  No cost to help out, but since we order pizza for lunch, please let us know if you are participating!  Please speak with Sally Finck.  Hope to see you there!

REMINDER:  IF YOU SIGNED UP TO PARTICIPATE in the Gingerbread House Making Activity, the festivities begin today after the late service.

AN ALTAR GUILD VOLUNTEER IS NEEDED for Christmas Day, following the 10:30 a.m. service, to put away the communion-ware.  It can be someone who already serves on Altar Guild or someone new, and if new, we would provide training.  Speak to one of the co-chairs if you can help:  Edith Skoog, Laurie Vaitkus, Mary Ann Schiller or Donna Senft.

ATTENTION WORSHIP SERVICE VOLUNTEERS:  The 1st quarter schedules have been distributed into the family mailboxes.  If you are an acolyte, usher, reader, deacon, greeter, or serve on the Altar Guild, please look in your mailbox for the January-February-March schedules.

ADVENT WREATH CANDLE LIGHTING:  We offer a nice opportunity for you/your family to participate in a Sunday morning Worship service in Advent—see the blue sign-up sheet on the narthex table and pick a service to light the candles on the Advent wreath while a special hymn is sung.  Note:  A Bible verse will not be read during the lighting…only lighting the candles.

COVENANT TO CARE FOR CHILDREN “GIVING TREE” GIFTS are due today.  If you forgot your gift, please contact Mary Schrock at schrocknroll@optonline.net to make arrangements for when the gift will arrive, as the plan is to wrap and have them delivered this week.
