Hello and Welcome - We are Glad You Found Us!

Our Sunday Worship Service times are: 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

For the Week Starting 02/17

“WHO AM I?”  “WHAT AM I DOING HERE?” is the title of a six-session video-based Bible study that Pastor Wismar will lead at two different times, this month through April.  One study time is for men only, with the next (second) session at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23.  The men’s only class will then continue on Saturdays, March 16 and 23, and April 13 and 27.  The other study is for all people, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 (first session), and will continue on Wednesdays, March 6, 13 and 27, and April 10 and 24.

JOIN US FOR PANCAKE DAY – ON SUNDAY, MARCH 3, immediately following the late service!  We will serve a variety of pancakes, including gluten-free, sausage, fruit, Danish, doughnuts and more!  Enjoy this wonderful way to welcome our Lenten season.  Families and friends are welcome.  Both attendance and volunteer sign-up sheets are on the narthex table.

HELP THE SUNDAY SCHOOL with its winter hat & mitten collection.  During the month of February the Sunday School is collecting new hat & mitten sets that will be given to our Covenant to Care for Children DCF social worker for the December 2019 collection.  Why ask for donations 10 months in advance?  So that you can take advantage of winter outerwear sales!  The sets can be for either a boy or girl, ages 3 to 18 – all we ask is that it is a matching set.  Donations may be put in the red “snowflake” box near the door that leads to the basement.  Show your love and warmth to children in need.  Thank you!

CLOTHING DONATIONS:  Summerfield Methodist church in Bridgeport is in need of winter-wear clothing in all sizes, especially, coats, boots, hats, etc.  Place your donations in the large box labeled “SUMMERFIELD” in the narthex.  Your generosity is sincerely appreciated by those in need.

DO YOU, OR DOES SOMEONE YOU KNOW, NEED A PRESCHOOL?  Registration for the  2019-2020 school year at our very own Holy Cross Christian Preschool has begun!  To schedule a visit, or to find out more details about the class sizes, availability and curriculum, contact our Preschool Director, Michele Glennon: 203-268-6471, preschool@holycrosstrumbull.com.

CAN YOU SERVE AS A FELLOWSHIP HOST ON A SUNDAY MORNING?  Pick a week that works with your schedule.  A new sign-up sheet covering the remainder of this month through early April is on the narthex table.

COMMUNITY SUPPER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  Grace-Lutheran in Stratford will be coordinating the next “first-Tuesday-of-the-month” Community Supper at St. John’s Episcopal in Bridgeport.  Volunteers are needed on March 5 to cook (1:30 p.m.) and serve (4:45 to 6 p.m.).  If you are able to help out with either task, please contact Diane from Grace-Stratford:  schyhols@netscape.net.

FRIDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASS:  Please join us at 10:30 on Friday mornings as we study the Bible with lecturer Dr. Craig Koester of the Lutheran Seminary.  His presentations have been found to be fascinating—for example, when he explored Luke through reversals, what is expected does not happen.  Come revisit the Bible with him.  There will be time for discussion.  Pastor will join us.  It is not too late for you to join us – we always welcome new people to our Friday morning study group!

THE 2018 ANNUAL REPORT has been completed and copies are available on the narthex table.  As stated in the Annual Voters’ Meeting notice, this document is available so that you can read through the various reports to “focus on the future of our congregation with knowledge of the past.”

THE 2019 WORSHIP SUPPLIES AND ALTAR FLOWER CHARTS are on the hallway bulletin board as you approach the Fellowship Hall.  Altar flowers for a week, or one of our worship supplies for a month, are available to sponsor.  Many spots are still available for 2019!  Pick a week to sponsor the flowers or a month to sponsor one of the listed worship supplies.  This is a nice way to honor or remember a loved one; whomever you would like to honor/remember will be included in our bulletin.
