Today's Bible reading: Luke 19:41-44
After entering the city, Jesus teaches right out in the open in the Temple. The crowds have to acknowledge that He is a prophet. Without perhaps realizing the full meaning of this statement, the crowds speak the truth. It is in Holy Week that Jesus is prophet in the double sense. As we know from our journey together through the Old Testament, Jerusalem has a long and sad history of rejecting God’s prophets: now they are about to kill the greatest of them all. All Jesus’ actions in His passion - even His silent suffering - are prophetic word. God is crying out to His people: come back to me, be reconciled with me! Jesus’ tears are God’s tears!
Prayer: "Ride on, ride on, in majesty! In lowly pomp ride on to die. Bow Thy meek head to mortal pain, Than take, O God, Thy Pow'r and reign!" Amen.
GOD BLESS YOUR DAY!
