Today's Bible reading: Isaiah 55:1-13
The Word which God spoke through the prophets is a powerful Word – not something to be taken lightly. It is a matter of life and death – creating either the one or the other. Our Old Testament reading for this morning is a key text which pictures the power of that Word which creates what it speaks. There's no question that rain and snow come down from the skies. No one can debate that they give moisture to the soil, so that seeds can sprout to produce crops. So it is beyond question that God's Word will do what it says. It is like a messenger who always comes back to the sender with the report: Done!
When God promises peace and security … when He promises a bright and joyful future in which even the hills and the trees join the chorus of thanksgiving … it is as good as done. His promises are true!
Prayer: Lord God, may Your Word continue to accomplish Your purposes among us and around the world. Teach us to hold Your Word sacred and gladly hear and learn it. Amen.
GOD BLESS YOUR DAY!
