Today's Bible reading: Judges 11-12
When we hear of “judges”, we naturally think of someone sitting in a law court. But the Judges were not lawyers – though some - like Samuel - also settled legal disputes. Nor were they national leaders, like kings. The Hebrew word “to judge” meant “to come to the rescue, to save, to deliver, to set things right.” The Judges were local leaders, raised by God to rescue His people. They were equipped by Him with gifts such as leadership qualities, courage, cunning, or strength. They were charismatic leaders – in the proper sense of the term.
Prayer: Lord God, rule over the nations, encourage us when we seem to be surrounded and overwhelmed by an ungodly world. Prepare us for our eternal homeland, which we will enter when Jesus returns. Amen.
GOD BLESS YOUR DAY!
