"Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him. See that you go on growing in the Lord, and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all he has done."

Colossians 2:7 (LB)

Christian Education

Holy Cross emphasizes instruction in Christian truths for all ages, believing it to be a life-long process. We therefore offer a full range of learning opportunities.  The following programs are available at Holy Cross:

Sunday School

Our church offers a wonderful, free, Christian Education hour weekly for children from age 3 through high school.  A different Bible story is explored each week, using traditional scripture and integration with real-life connection. The children participate in numerous group productions such as our Christmas and Palm Sunday programs. At the end of the school year in May, the Sunday School classes will showcase an end-of-school-year display showing what what they have learned.  The children also enjoy taking part in other activities such as the “Operation Christmas Child” program, where shoeboxes are filled with toys and essentials, then distributed to needy children all over the world.  And new this year, the Sunday School is sponsoring a winter hat and mitten/glove collection to help out the children and youth under the care of Covenant to Care for Children.  Donations of these NEW items may be left in the designated box in the narthex.

The school year begins on Sunday, September 10.  The children meet from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. every Sunday except during the Christmas break and Easter Sunday. Church membership is NOT a requirement, and friends are always welcome!  The 2017-2018 school year registration forms are available on the narthex table at the church.  If it's more convenient for you to print out a form at home,  click here to open and print the form.

Vacation Bible School

Announcing Vacation Bible School 2018:  “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus.”  Mark your calendar for the first full week of August – August 6-10, from 9 a.m. to noon each day.  Our VBS is open to children entering grades Kindergarten through Grade 5 (entering in September 2018).  At Shipwrecked, kids will meet new friends, and together they will discover that Jesus rescues them!  Kids will participate in memorable Bible-learning activities and crafts, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, and much more.  Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings.  Each day will conclude with the Sail-Away Sendoff that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned.  Like we have done every year at our VBS, there will be a daily mission offering – this year’s mission effort will be announced to the children on the first day of VBS.

To register your child(ren), click here to open and print the two-page information and registration form.  Or you may pick up a form at the church.  Completed forms and the registration fee may be delivered via postal mail or in person to the church office (Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.).  We are located at 5995 Main Street, Trumbull.

Come sail away to the best week of the summer!  We hope to see your child(ren) at Shipwrecked:  Rescued by Jesus!

Youth Activities

The Holy Cross Youth group is a group of teens (grades 7 through 12) who gather several times each year.  These gatherings promote social and community outreach activities.  All are welcome to attend. Click here to open and view or print the 2017-2018 schedule of activities.

The Holy Cross library has books for both young and old and is a great opportunity to read literature that is meaningful. Getting into the habit of allowing your young one to select a “Bible story for the week” will help both your child and you to grow in Christ together. So stop by and borrow a book today.
